I am back!

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe it has been over a year and a half since I last blogged here! I have multiple drafts in the blog that I never even started, but you know, it just wasn't time. And that is okay.

A lot has happened in this past year... 2016 was probably the most challenging, yet rewarding year of my life so far, so let me catch you up!

I got married!

On Christmas day in 2015 when the Moon was full, my love asked me to be his wife in front of my whole family! He is so brave and he did not tell anyone! So we were all surprised!

So half of 2016 I was planning our wedding on a low budget, and it was time consuming, stressful, eye-opening, and fun! Oh and we also moved into a bigger place 2 months before we got married, which was intense in itself!

And so so worth it :)

I may write a more detailed post about it in the future, but we shall see. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Spirit de la Lune launched!

The moon deck of my dreams and in my heart for almost 10 years was finally created by Rachael and I! The feedback, love, and support has been absolutely phenomenal and mind blowing! We are even nominated for a few awards from the International Tarot Foundation!

I have been busy blogging and creating over on the Spirit de la Lune website, so feel free to explore our website! We will be restocked soon with decks, but we also offer art prints and 2017 calendars! We also have free downloadable Zodiac Moon compasses on the offerings page!

The Moondaughter Mystic School

As you know, I revamped my programs and even added a few new programs in the Moondaughter Mystic School. My e-courses will always evolve as I grow spiritually and it has been an amazing journey. Go explore my new programs and take the Mystic Quiz!

2017 is for Thriving

My word of the year is THRIVE. I turned 30 and for my new decade I want to set the foundation for thriving. I want to experience thriving on all levels: spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially. So far I feel really good about 2017. At least in my own little bubble. I've already decluttered most of my home using the Kon Mari method, and actually decorated and settled in since the wedding. It frees up so much energy, it is amazing what a nice clean home does for your well being. It sets the foundation to thrive, at least for me.

Now I am focusing on my body. I want to lose some weight, focus more on nourishing food, which means I will need to cook (something I have never really enjoyed) and I want to create a exercise/movement routine that flows with my ebb and flow. I want this blog to be where I share my journey about thriving, my spirit and my personal spiritual practices, and I just want to connect more.

I feel so inspired and motivated to make this my best year yet! And I hope you come back here, because I have some fun posts planned! I will talk to you all soon!

Blessed be,

MARISSA MOONDAUGHTER

Full Moon Vibes

Yesterday's Full Moon marked a new chapter for me. The timing of everything is so amazing, I feel so guided on my path.

For over a year and a half, my moon-time ALWAYS fell on the day of the Full Moon. And every Full Moon I was completely drained with no energy to do absolutely anything. My Full moon's felt so wasted, I couldn't even do a guided meditation without falling asleep for hours afterward. Maybe I could have learned something through that time... maybe some deep Moon medicine wanted to work through me, but I was too closed off and bitter to notice or be aware.

The past 3 moon cycles my energy has shifted... starting with the eclipses, I began to get my moon the day before the Full Moon, and that was enough for my body to recover and have energy on the Full Moon. Since then, my moon-time is almost a week before the Full Moon now and I can enjoy myself. My body is not as drained on my period as it was before, and yesterday's Full Moon was my first Full Moon Circle at my yoga studio, Unfold Yoga. I was so nervous about the Full Moon circles... I wanted to have energy, I wanted to hold space for others to celebrate the Moon with me.

And it was a success! I had energy! We shared our experience about moon charting ( my Lunar Flow e-course teaches this type of charting), I then lead them through a Drawing Down the Moon Meditation, and then we crafted Moon journals listened to music, ate snacks and connected. It felt so fulfilling. This is my moon journal thus far.... I know it will evolve.

When I came home I was exhausted in a content way. My bed called to me, I read for a little bit and drifted off into a deep sleep. I woke up so well rested today, I didn't even wake up when Jimmy came in late from work last night.

June is also the month of Moondaughter's anniversary. 3 years ago I began a blog about the Moon. And everything is shifting still. My Magical program is going to be evolving and changing, but I can't say how or when yet. I am currently feeling into this energy and remaining open to spirit and the inspirations that come to me.

I am having a sale in my Etsy shop using the code FULLMOON for 30% all my ecourses. this Full moon has been amazing. I feel so grateful.

 LUNAR BLESSINGS,

Marissa Moondaughter

Moments: Blurrr

  1. Boho sitting area
  2. Sacred geometry
  3. Crystal grid from my Crystal Workshop last Saturday
  4. Some of my jewels
  5. Me goofy and sleep deprived :p
  6. Yummy skincare from Soapylayne
  7. Jimmy is a really good cook
  8. Bathroom window with Soulmakes moon and star windchime

How are you Moonbeams? I never give my blog enough love. And these past two weeks have been no different. I feel like I am always in a blur these days... So many things to do, so little time to do them. I forget to breathe, I forget to eat, I forget to connect. I get lost in my thoughts, my should's, my daydreams.

I have to admit too, that I am a very very very cluttered and messy person. A long time ago I read a relationship book while I was going through a bad break-up and the only thing I remember from this book is "Messy bed.. Messy head." And that is definitely the state I am in right now. I feel completely scattered in my life right now because my place is a total disaster. It has been causing stress on my relationship with Jimmy too. And with our opposite work schedules it is hard to clean when one of us is tired or away. And I would rather be spending time with him when we can instead of cleaning. BLAGH. The picture above of my little boho sitting area? That lasted about 20 minutes... I don't know how it happens but I am always messy and cluttered. I would blame it on house fairies up to mischief, but it really is me going through creative projects and never cleaning up. Or being lazy and not putting clothes away. Yada yada yada.

I would love to know how you guys stay on top of your messes? Do you have routines? I smudged my place last night which really helps, but it doesn't clean up the mess! Anyway please leave any advice in the comments! I would love that!

In other news, I made a sea salt spray for your hair On the Bohemian Collective as part of the Chakra Beauty Series for the Solar Chakra. I am really happy how it came out! It works really good even for my long and really heavy hair! And the second magazine is coming out on May 1st, Beltane! It is so so beautiful! I am so honored to have 2 articles in it! They are short and sweet, but the rest of magazine is gorgeous too! I can't wait to get it in my hands!

I also want to say thank you for everyone's support during my Earth Day sale in my Etsy shop! Not only did I donate a portion of sales to Oceana to protect our precious waters, but I also donated to Red Cross for the Nepal Earthquake Relief. Click these links to donate! Even if you cannot donate, please light a candle and send your prayers to those in Nepal. It is completely devastating, but I so grateful the world is coming together to help those in need.

CRYSTAL & LUNAR BLESSINGS,

My Yoga Training

What can I really say about this whole experience? It has been challenging, rewarding, and most of all beautiful. I finished the lecture section of my Yoga training 2 weeks ago. And now I am beginning my teacher shadowing! I am so excited and nervous!

There is still so much to learn and process. Yoga is a beautiful way to live - it is not a religion, but a philosophy that can benefit anyone's beliefs and spiritual path. there is so much more to Yoga than just asanas- the movement and postures. Yoga, in sanskrit means "to yoke" "to merge" - yoking the mind, body, and spirit to merge into one. We are all one, we are all connected and can tap into this beautiful state of consciousness, and yoga can help us do so.

In Yoga there are Yamas and Niyamas, actions and observances to help us be better humans.  There are kriyas, cleansing techniques to purify our bodies and minds. Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga, learning to create balance with the energies within us, with food and nourishing rituals. And of course, chakras play a part in balancing our energies as well. The list can go on and on.

The Hanuman mudra for the Full Moon and devotion.

The Hanuman mudra for the Full Moon and devotion.

I have changed these past 4 months... I still can't explain these changes, but my yearning for spirit has grown stronger. I am a vegetarian now because I don't want to eat my friends. My awareness has grown - I am not strong in strengthening postures, but I am great at balancing and I am drawn to restorative and yin yoga. I am more in touch with my body.

I am so excited to merge Moondaughter with my newfound yoga knowledge. I want to teach specific asanas to flow with the Moon, not just the standard Chandra Namaskar (Moon Salutations), but specific to the moon phases we are in. I will always add crystals, tarot and oracle cards, and essential oils to my classes. I just can't help it. I want to create specific asanas for each chakra.

So many opportunities to learn and grow have opened because of this beautiful training. I want to be able to get into bakasana (crow pose), and perfect my chaturanga dandasana (I can barely do one pushup). For a while I judged myself for not being able to do specific poses.

"A Yoga teacher should know how to do that"

"You are not fit to be a yoga teacher"

In the end, I have realized I just need to be me. I need to show up authentically and sincerely and teach from the heart. I need to remember that everyday.

Cloud Nine Yoga training merges the physical aspects and spiritual aspects of yoga so beautifully. I knew I needed that balance when searching for a yoga training school. My teachers are so amazing! They balanced each other's energies perfectly, and our lectures were never boring. They created an atmosphere to explore in without fear, but fun and joy. Unfold Yoga was the beautiful little studio we learned in. It is intimate and full of light.

My little yoga family was filled with strong and inspiring women. We grew and bonded and it was amazing to see everyone's journey unfold together. I learned so much from each of them.

As a final project we had to create a one hour asana and teach a 20 minute snippet of it. This project is so dear to my heart, friends. I am even working on it to be an actual live workshop in the future. It definitely exceeds one hour! I combined my love for Tarot, my ecourse Tarot Journey, and yoga! It is my Fool's Journey Asana... moving through the 22 cards of the Major Arcana. Embedding the wisdom of Tarot into your body with a moving meditation. I am looking to combine Tarot Journey and this asana into a workshop in the Orange County area sometime this year. If you are local and are interested stay on the lookout!

Above is a picture of one part of the savasana (all the photos are credited to one of my lovely yoga teachers, Hannah :).

However, coming soon to the blog will be the Fool's Journey Asana! I'll share one pose a week starting with the Fool ! The start date is yet to be determined, but I will let you all know when!

Overall I just feel extremely blessed and I am so excited to see how 2015 will expand and unravel. New beginnings are on the horizon. My spirit is soaring.

Namaste,
