Our First Tree

This is the first year Jimmy and I got a tree together, and I absolutely adore it. The place we lived in before was too small and cramped so we opted out, but now we have a little more space and I was itching for a tree. Theo loves it too and he is quite entertaining :) Having a tree for the holidays just puts me more at ease and at home. I bought most of the ornaments on sale at Cost Plus and Target so nothing was too pricey and it is just the perfect size for us. Enjoy my obsessive pictures (I was playing around with a lot of filters!) and Happy December! One week til I am 26! :O

I love this feather in a glass ornament.
Celebrating my heritage with some Dutch clogs <3
Our first ornament ever from 2011, and our little monkey. We can't have the lights on for very long, because he will start chewing them :(

Trinkets from AZ

Hello loves, I just wanted to share some goodies I bought from AZ, I kind of splurged (bad habit of mine), but I thought it was well worth it!

1. I added to my budding dream catcher collection. The two on the ends are the new additions. The smallest one was made by a Native American of the Navajo tribe and has a certificate of authenticity.

2. Jimmy and I decided to start a tradition by buying something handmade a local on each of our travels. We chose two coasters.

3. I bought a Himalayan Salt Lamp in Sedona. I absolutely love the glow. Theo (my kitten) also doesn't sneeze anymore! Yes, the poor little guy has allergies. But Himalayan Salt lets out negative ions into air, cleansing and purifying it!

4. I bought the cute place mat because the colors go with my blog! And some AZ grown sage...mmm cannot wait to use it!

5. I bought some new stones to work with! I will share more about them soon!

6. And I bought some pretty pendants to make some items with! Not sure what I will come up with, so this will be fun!

Arizona inspired me to be more artistic again...somehow it got lost in my daily life, but I am re-awakening.

Have a lovely Wednesday, my beautiful readers! Thank you for putting up with all of my pictures of Arizona! Can you not tell I am obsessed?

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Creations: DIY Canvas Frame Version #1

Hello Lovelies!

I am not much for DIY projects (usually I am just lazy LOL), so my blog will be very limited in these types of posts (unless they are guest posts!), but I thought I would share this one because it really is so SIMPLE. And it took me less than 3 minutes to do, no joke!

<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>

I used a 5x7 canvas of an old painting I did a while back (I am not a painter!) and a pretty card I received from a dear friend (it's about 3x4)

<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>

First, I found where I wanted to put the picture and made sure it was straight on the wall, and then used the tacks on all four corners. The tacks bring their own little design flair, which I like!

<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>

The, I lined up the card in the middle of the frame and used two tacks to secure it. Since it is a card, I tacked it on the inside so you couldn't see them.

<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>

And viola! You have a cute, chic, little canvas frame in less than 3 minutes!

<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>

This week is a little busy for me, I am preparing some blog posts, and getting ready to go camping this weekend! So it will be quiet on the blog until I get back!

My love and I are going to drive to Flagstaff, Arizona (about 8 hours away!) and camp until Monday. I vowed to myself I am going to "unplug" this weekend and only use my phone for pictures! It will be a nice break in nature and to reconnect with my spirit.

I am bringing my spirit animal guide books, and my animal spirit oracle cards I just received in the mail too! I will share my experience with you all when I get back! Maybe I will connect with my animal spirit guides on this trip to the mountains.  I have been reading oracle cards for years now and I want to offer readings very soon, so I am going to have a giveaway in the works too when I get back :)

I hope you all have a great rest of your week!

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

Inspirations: Textiles

So I am needing inspiration for a new project coming to the forefront, dear readers. You see, my boyfriend, kitty, and I live in a rented room in a big house at the moment. It is spacious enough, cheap, and we can have our kitty, so I can't complain, BUT... there are no windows (no natural light pains me, and sucky for taking pictures : / ), and there is some very unappealing pastel-colored wallpaper above the fireplace. It reminds me of a dentist office. Yum.

Jimmy (the said boyfriend) planted the idea of using starch and fabric to cover it, and I think it is a great alternative - especially if you are renting like we are! We are fabric shopping at the moment (more so looking), hopefully sometime this summer (fingers-crossed!) I will be able to post up the finished results!

For now, here are some fabric inspirations I have found on Pinterest. Hope you are having a great Wednesday!

As you can see, I am in love with bright colors, and I am really diggin' the vibe of Southwestern/tribal, boho print. Jimmy is warming up to it too; I am so grateful he is such a good sport! I do feel like my tastes are ever-evolving, like the Moon, but at least the fabric is easy to take off and reusable! Win-win to me!

Love and Blessings,
Marissa Moondaughter

P.s. Thank you SO M.U.C.H for all the love and support on my bloggy blog, and Facebook! I will be making you another goody very soon, as a gift of gratitude! So stay tuned ;) I have other gifts on my Offerings page too! Don't be modest, go grab them :)
