Stone Medicine: Sedona Vortex Blessing

Cathedral Rock is one of the largest vortexes in Sedona. I came there with the intention to finding a secluded and safe place to perform the blessing. We hiked up the mountain and found a trail that was actually a dry creek bed. The ochre rocks were formed in such a way that a staircase was created; I couldn't help but think of it as a staircase to heaven.

I felt drawn to a shaded spot overlooking the whole Sedona Valley. You could see Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte, another vortex spot with unbelievable rock towers against the turquoise sky. The view took my breath away. The dry creek bed we were on cut into Cathedral Rock, creating a wind tunnel – the wind was so strong and powerful, I can understand how the rocks were formed as they are. I was afraid all my little stones would be blown away! However during the whole ceremony the wind was so still and gentle, it became a cleansing playful breeze as if giving me a moment of peace, kissing each stone as a sacred blessing.

I laid my blanket down and placed large Sedona stones on each corner to hold it down. I called these my stone keepers, holding the altar in place. I then placed my large Smoky Quartz generator in the center, the center stone, channeling mother earth and father sky. At each corner I placed an item for each element; to the east, signing bells; to the south, sweet grass; to the west, tea; to the north, my feather smudge fan.

Surrounding the center stone I placed the Tiger’s eyes, Bull’s eye, Hawk’s eye, and quartz points. I finished the altar with placing the other stones around intuitively. I then smudged the entire altar being mindful of the sage embers. I asked Great Spirit to cleanse and bless the stones and the future keepers. I thanked the vortex for its revitalizing energy and to add to this blessing. I went to each corner and called in the elements, Earth, air, Fire and Water. I recited this beautiful invocation from my tarot deck, Medicine Woman:

"Welcome, energies of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.
Let us create a life of beauty, reverence, and wonder.
With each season, let us rejoice.
Through every phase of Sun and Moon,
Let us be in harmony.
In every direction shall we offer our love."

I anointed each stone with oil and chanted Reiki to them and when I was ready, I drew a tarot card asking what message the crystals/stones have for their future stewards. And I poured an offering of the tea for Mother Earth and her inhabitants. The ceremony ended with sweet grass burning and thanking Great Spirit, Cathedral rock and the elements for witnessing this ceremony.

This ceremony was what my spirit needed. I felt so revitalized afterward, and it was an honor to cleanse these crystals and bless them before they are sent out to their future bearers. If you feel called to order this set you can order them here.

My New Moon Ceremony

The night before the New Moon, I had time to do a simple and intimate New Moon Ceremony for myself. I just set up a special meditation spot in front of our non-working fireplace inspired by my meditation area post. it's a perfect spot for my huge salt lamp I just found. This space, especially bathed in the warm glow of the lamp, is so calming to me. It is exactly what I have been needing.

I drew a card from my new Vision Quest deck and it couldn't be more poignant to me; Four of Earth - Security. And reversed. My issues with security tie heavily into financial matters, and my perception of family/marriage right now. They have been laying heavy on my heart.  It's very clear I need make these shifts in my perception and what security actually means to me to move forward. It is such an uncomfortable topic for me to even think about. I need to address my budget. I need to acknowledge my vulnerability. I want to show myself compassion and allow myself to receive it. I then felt intuitively drawn to create a mini grid of black tourmaline. It's a very protective and grounding stone, and it felt so calming to me. It soothed my anxious soul.

I will be adding readings back to my shop soon too. I have been feeling very inspired to bring them back! I will let you all know soon :)

I hope your New Moon has been lovely. Mine was soft and quiet - just what I needed.

New Moon Blessings,

Marissa Moondaughter

Stone Medicine: Rose Quartz

photo (47).JPG

Stone Medicine is back! I have missed writing about my stone friends and I am finally getting back into the swing of things.

The other day when I wrote my Nest post I was hard on myself. I felt rough and raw, so I turned to Rose Quartz. She is a gentle love spirit and the most well known love stone. She gently soothes and calms the heart chakra with warm, loving waves. She is just what I needed (and lots of cuddles with my boys).

Rose Quartz can be carried around with you to attract healthy and loving relationships as well as heal your own self-love and body image issues. I like to carry mine around and when I hold it I whisper love affirmations like, "I am love," "my relationships are nourishing to my soul," "I am surrounded by love always," and so on. It is powerful medicine!

She is also known to be helpful with boosting circulation, soothing skin issues, and gently easing heart conditions. Put a couple of rose quartz chips in your bath, toner, or serum to boost your beauty regime. See if they work for you!

My personal favorite is creating love crystal grids. Crystal grids use crystals in geometric patterns to create very specific energy vortexes for specific reasons. The more creative and intuitive you are with your grids, I think the better. Here are a few I have made using only Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, and Moonstone.

To activate your grids, you have to state your intention and connect the crystal energies together with a wand or your index finger, tracing the outline of the grid and always connecting it back to center - kind of like connect-the-dots! All the while, visualizing your intentions and how they look and feel like as if they have happened. Feeling yourself in love, visualizing a romantic getaway or wedding, a day of completely being in love with yourself! Whatever you visualize, feel it in your heart and you cannot go wrong. Keep your grid on your altar or safe place away from animals (my cats are relentless), until you feel the work is complete!

Most importantly, discover ways you connect with Rose Quartz and build your relationship with this loving stone. It will be a beautiful affair!

Love and Blessings,
