Tell us about yourself:
I am a certified holistic heath and lifestyle coach, mama of two, lover to one, artist and cook. I adore the life I have created surrounded by the people I love. It wasn't always this way for me and not too long ago I was living in serious sadness and pain because I was not living in alignment with my soul. My path to wellness and ultimately my career changed everything for me. Now I support other women, both privately and in group settings, while they discover how to design the life they want starting with the food on their plate and the space they call home.
What is your favorite season?
I think I like the seasonal cusps the best. I can feel the building energy and anticipation as it waxes and wanes with the season. In spring the damp earth, the budding flowers and haze of green gets me every time. I also adore that shift from summer to fall..burnt grass, hot sun and chilly air stirs my soul big time. My body also bends with those sensory cues, I begin to crave more raw, more fruit and lighter fare in the spring and I happily kick off the soup and stew season in the fall. There is definitely something wild and primal about being tuned in to the earth this way.
What inspires your creations/offerings?
Oh Mother Nature for sure. She is my muse and I never tire of her. When I need refueling I fill up on walks on the beach, hikes in the hills and dips in the rivers. I am constantly in awe of the variety of foods nature provides us with, it's crazy that it all just exists for us in the first place, no?! The other night I made this chicken stuffed with lemons and herbs and surrounded it with chopped sweet potatoes, onions, celery root, squash and parsnips. It all roasted together in one pan and it was so delicious and it filled my with such gratitude. That feeling of abundance and wonder and magic is something I like to infuse all my work with.
What makes your spirit buzz?
Bringing the elements inside. Embodying them and allowing their essence to permeate our lives with magic. We can do this through design in our homes, the work and art we create, the food we eat and how we honor and heal our bodies.
What is your relationship with the moon:
One of complete awe. I live by the ocean and I see her power first hand on the land and waters around us. I feel deeply moved by her mysterious ways, yet haven't quite reached true understanding. I may never and that's pretty OK with me.
Your favorite motto/quote:
I don't think I have just one. I usually carry around a sentiment, a quote or something meaningful I have read in my mind for a bit until it fades and another one finds it's place. I just love the author Elizabeth Gilbert of Eat, Pray, Love fame. I follow her on Facebook and she said something a few weeks back in regards to her presenting at the Oprah's The Life You Want Tour that has kinda stuck to my ribs and become a compass of sorts...
" If I turn this into a big drama or a thrill ride, then I'm making it all about me. Which isn't fair to anybody here, and won't serve anybody here. And I came here to serve....Do what they need you to do. Be who you came here to be. There's no higher way to honor these people than to bring them your most dignified self."
For me the strongest part of what she is saying is stop getting in your own way, you have gifts you are meant to share, stop worrying and start sharing. I just love it!
What's on your altar right now?
Right now it's a giant citrine and a small amethyst for abundance. A small candle for remembering, some sage resting in a seashell for clearing, a lost key for possibility and hope and branch with leaves just beginning to yellow to honor the seasonal shift.
Favorite spiritual book?
I usually have my nose in cookbooks or interior design tomes but I recently re-read Chocolat and was enraptured yet again by the magic and mystery of food and religion and it's effect on people of all beliefs.
